
— Winder drives
Sael made several winder application solving different issues in term of demands, performances, manufacturing types across many different papers. A focus area is the winder electrical revamping -from the single piece of the machine up to the entire group -.
Born to Winders, the “WINDER Sael” supervisor is a great tool for winder drives management so far. This core product has been perfected along the years and hundreds of applications on paper mill industry.
The base of this system got inspired by the “JagMatic” model – for basic functions mainly – and built on new solutions by the new open software solutions.
Our system involves a PC – Windows inside – who runs the supervisor by a Scalink program. It is extremely flexible and modular; Windows fully integrated and high performing.
To the best MMI-SCADA system optimization all the pages, the custom functions, protocol, graphic interfaces have been implemented by Sael.
— Supervisor
The system is organized on a multiple data base platform. In this way, the graphical interface – modular built – can accesses to any data in real time.
The supervisor modular system choice, made for each individual project, comes from the customer’s needs and what it wants to get from each line.
This allows a common base instrument used for any type of line, from the “low cost profile” up to the “top performing level” comparable to the DCS functionalities.
The recourses implied can be focused to the needs at the time, and upgradable in further steps in case, as in a building house – with no changing to the main basic system -.
This means having a tailor-made system at the right price.
On top of the characteristics mentioned above, the supervisor has several graphical pages where are showed single parts of the plant/machine – versus the typical mimics and/or synoptic controls.
The pages are organized on a hierarchy-functional mode: starting from the base page and diving on further details, eventually.

— Software structure technical deepening
Every page contains several common functions. All accessible through a repetitive heat (on top of the page). Below some of the functions:

- Hour and Data display;
- Logos and Brands;
- Navigator (easy page diving with arrows);
- Navigator (easy page diving with keys and video buttons)
- Page Title (descriptive, for each page);
- Common Functions title (Windows mode: Print; WEB access for IWSA; HELP; PDF manuals and diagrams; Login; etc.);
- Uses indications (related to the present user who accesses to the program);
- Diagnostic and Alarm Section.
- Dynamic PoupUp (real time or historical alarms with comments section; motors data; maintenance tables; etc.) fully presettable;
Other options available:
Installing a S7 license and a MPI/ETHERNET converter, it is possible to modify the plc “on line” by the supervisor PC – using this one as a work station -. Through an internet node, and linked with the entire hardware mentioned above, either the customer or our technician in remote mode, can access and modify PLC, SUPERVISOR and DRIVE.It will be possible to get a real time diagnosis and/or a quick assistance directly working on the set up.

In the main synoptic are displayed all the AC/DC motors and beside each one all the values. Although, all the set points – settable under password – as well as currents and speeds of the motors driven by the converters, the speed line, the unwinder pull, the real bobbin diameter wined and unwinded (see the pic.)

The pages of the manual commands allow the manual engagement: all the commands are progressively numbered, activatable either from the left or right of the page.

The unwinders section of the manual commands has the same function as described the in the picture mentioned above.

RECIPES GENERATION PAGE
Made for set and display the parameters; the set points and the functional curves references. The whole information is called “Recopies”. It is possible to save, store and remove them in the hard drive.

REAL TRENDS and WINDED BOBBIN PAGE
The page shoes the trends: the curve stored values in the hard drive. Here are some views of the main values. Neither additions nor cancellations are permitted.

Here are shown the historical trends of three motors and/or two motors and a load cell. The selection of the view is made via scroll bar.

MAINTENANCE PAGE: DUTY OPERATIONS

In this page it is possible to set the main values of the supervisor. As long as the regulation is rare, or “one shot”, to activate them the system restart is required.

This page is made to manage the PLC parameters and the information exchange with the supervisor

CAN-BUS COMUNICATION MANAGEMENT
Here is the Can-Bus Status of the lines, used to manage the speed reference of the data exchange. Every CAN line has a maximum of 32 nodes and 5 lines. The “ON” led shows the “ON-LINE / OFF-LINE” mode. If a node is not included, it is never “ON-LINE”; vice versa, if it is included, but “OFF-LINE” it means there is a fault.

REDUCTION RATIO and DIAMETER SET

This page shows, and allows to set, the Gearbox motors Reduction Ratio and all the cylinders diameters available in the system.

WORKING CURVES VISUALIZATION
The page shows the production work-in-progress: the set point curves on the PLC, with limits application, are displayed.
The set point curves are 4 and prepared by the following criteria:
- Rider Roll and Tailstock lightning;
- Load breakdown;
- Maximum speed;
During the process, a vertical bar moves along the window related to the diameter increase; to the left upper side of the page there are the present values and the presets.

RIDER ROLL and TAILSTOCK CURVES PAGE
In this page you can set the curve value over the diameter.
For each curve there are three tracks: upside there is the curve nr. and a description, eventually; Downside there are the different modes.

MANAGEMENT OF PRODUCTION REPORTS PAGE
This page shows two production report simultaneously, automatically stored during the process.
To select the desired production report, press “OPEN”.
The files/data are stored by units/families; the buttons offer the selection below:
- Motor currents;
- Production diameters;
- Speeds;
- Pressures;
- Unwinder pull
A cursor – vertical black line – is available: in this case the values of the curves will be shown beside the measure description.

ALARM MANAGEMENT PAGE: PRESENT and HISTORICAL ALARMS
The “present” and “historical Alarms” pages have the following areas:
- HEAD (chapter name);
- FILTERS and ACKNOWLEGMENT;
- ALARM DISPLAY;
The “Present Alarms” are:
- Active Alarms, not acknowledged yet;
- Active Alarms acknowledged;
- Cased Alarms not acknowledged yet;
If an event does not fulfil the list above, it is cancelled: an acknowledged active alarm is automatically erased whenever it is cased.
The Historical alarm list is a file with all the events related to the daily alarms. It is possible to set the number of the days recorded.
In this file are stored all the alarm transitions and acknowledgement.
By a double-click in the alarm string you can activate the following functions:
- Notes and Comments;
- Link to the electrical diagrams;
- Link to a video.
